Gemstone Accessories Information
Quality gemstone accessories are a vital
and important part of any collector's toolkit.

Tweezers should be of good quality
steel, ideally with a grooved nose to hold the girdle of the
gemstone allowing a more secure fit and a lockable fitting that
reduces any risk of losing your precious gem.

Quality gemstones deserve to be housed
under glass, not cheap plastic pods that scratch and
stretch causing the lids to easily dislodge after they have been
used on several occasions.
Professionally constructed gem boxes
provide the optimum storage medium for your collection.

Every toolkit should contain a decent
pair of loupes for examining your stones for inclusions and colour
bandings.
A torch is very handy for those
fossickers who wish to examine their gemstone rough in the field.

A 12 Volt 50 watt
Dichroic halogen lamp provides enough light to penetrate large
(40mm) sapphire crystal. Lamp type is the EXN 12 V 50 Watt 36 degree
beam width halogen dichroic available from K Mart or $2 shops.
Multi path fibres
are supplied with the light source for use with small stone or
