Emerald
Information
Emerald is of the beryl family. In its
purest form beryl is colourless, however, with the presence of
chromium and/or vanadium, emerald can result. It is the most
valued of all the beryls and has a long and colourful history.
Columbia is the most important source for the finest grade emerald.
Interestingly, there is no agreed upon criterion for distinguishing
between green beryl and emerald (Newman, p.84 2003)*

Clean emeralds with a damp cloth or spray with window
cleaner and wife dry. Don't soak emeralds in cleaning
solutions because they can dissolve fillers.Ultrasonic cleaners
are usually safe for stones of good clarity |

Fine quality stones over a carat can retail from $5000 USD per carat.
A 6+ carat gem of similar quality can wholesale for over
