Emerald
The Emerald
gemstone is a member of the beryl family. In its
purest form beryl is colourless, however, with the presence of
chromium and/or vanadium, emerald can result. Emerald is the most
valued of all the beryls and has a long and colourful history.
Columbia is the most important source for the finest grade emerald
gemstones. In Australia emeralds are sourced from Torrington
in Northern New South Wales. The Torrington emerald is
distinct due to its unique colour and bandings. For more
